Great product, I particular like the ability to add extra video and audio tracks and the rubber banding facility for controlling audio volume.

Would love to win the prize so here is my review of the product so far. I have purchased the software, it came in a timely manner. I have not yet had a chance to install it, but it looks good on my desk sitting next to my computer. I have given the product 2 stars because it looks OK to me on the desk. I suspect that after installing it and actually trying to use it, that rating could go up or down. At this point, I am hoping for up. ;)

Although I got a great deal on this software, I find myself running into the same issues that some of other Serif's software has. Don't get me wrong- it's a nice and efficient piece of software- but even on their newest versions, once your project get's so big it's hard for the software to handle and it crashes. I've encountered this problem in both DrawPlus and PagePlus versions, including X6.

I use Serif because it's cheap and I've gotten used to it. I work around the issues that all of their software has by saving often and making sure that my comp has plenty of ram in it- 12 GB.

Besides stability issues, it's good- really good. Not great, but really good. MoviePlus has incorporated the great Fx effects plugin from PagePlus and DrawPlus, giving the user great flexibility in what he or she wants his/her text to look like. The effects can even be applied to Picture-in-Picture videos, so that you have a nice, pro looking, border that will impress.

THE best things about MoviePlus X6 is it's high capacity, low lag method of handling HiDef video. I have Cyberlink's PowerDirector 11 software, and MoviePlus is my preference. I love the accurate method of arranging videos on the timeline precisely where I want them to go. It is a comfortable software to migrate from Magix's MEP software if you are trying to get away from that bug monster. If you think (and I would almost dare to) that MoviePlus is unstable, than I DARE you to try and edit with Movie Edit Pro- and you'll see what I mean.

In SUMMARY:
1) MoviePlus has it's issues. They're not pretty, and might push you over the edge, but they're TOLERABLE.
2) MoviePlus EXCELS at EDITING HD. ESPECIALLY the Pre-Render feature- THAT'S NOT A GIMMICK.
3) MoviePlus's Fx Effects can give you a GREAT LOOK to your footage or text- a VERY unique twist that I haven't seen in other editors.

MoviePlus X6 is a ONE OF A KIND movie editor that EVERY consumer editor should have in their toolkit- even if he/she prefers a different editor, GET IT NOW and HAGGLE that salesman down to $45- that's what I did!

This program is great and the books that come with it take any of the mystery out of the operation. You can work from both story board and timeline simultaneously. It is a snap to combine dialog, music and movies or pictures. Trimming and fitting is easy and the program makes correcting your mistakes just another function. Controlling the volume of combined dialog and music was a bit tricky at first, but even that took only a few minutes to overcome. Of the four movie makers I have tried this is by far the best.

Straightforward to use, builds well on X3.

I've tried a few video editors in working in an education centre linked to Durham County Cricket Club - MoviePlus is by far the best - why is it the best - easy to use but produces fantastic videos.
Adding sound - a doddle
Adding text - a doddle
Adding effects - a doddle

Results - Fantastic.

A very excellent and easy to use program. I use it for all my video projects and learn something new every time. Keep it up Serif and keep up those updates!

Not tried all the changed items yet, but was happy with X5 so I expect a similar system.

I dont' like the way you import a captured sequence, then you transfer it to the timeline, and as you transfer, the media import view changes to 'properties' view.

Still could do with more control over audio (as Magix for instance)
Nevertheless seems a good reliable 'stable' editing platform.

This is a great piece of software, its quick and easy to learn and is easy to transform video clips into something joined up and professional. It is ideal for uploading to You Tube and to many other formats. It's simple drag and drop time line with the ability to add music or commentary brings your videos to life.

This software is perfect for the beginner and the more knowledgeable its affordable price gives it an added bonus. Instead of just having video clips, transform them into something that you and your friends will want to watch.

Great application for editing your own movies. It is easy to use and great value for money.
It is really easy to chop bits out and add bits in. There are lots of crossfades available to make the transition from one scene to another silky smooth. You can even use them for disguising bits that you have chopped out.
It is also easy to use the video from one source (e.g. camera) and audio from another (e.g. audio recorder) and synch the two together.
There are lots of video and audio effects available, which when used carefully, can give your masterpiece a really professional finish.
When you have finished, there are plenty of options to export your video to YouTube, to file or to DVD/BluRay.
So what could be improved? Clearly a vast amount of effort has gone into the video editing side but the Menu Designer has been left to languish. Don't get me wrong; you can make a fairly reasonable menu but it is a lot of hard work to make it look acceptable if you want to do anything other than use a standard template.
In summary, this is a first class app that can produce some really great results.

Having used x5 for two years I welcome the new and very much improved x6.
No more going from menu to sub menu to sub menu. Just select were you want to go, and you are there instantly.
My computers CPU is not over worked and manages all, tasks.
I can go on but the one thing which is upmost important is the free help from sherif customer support and the polite staff.

I like this Serif MoviePlus X6: I've used Premiere Studio 10 for years and that was awful for 2 years while they sorted out the software. But X6 is easy to use, intuitive, stable and quick to process video files (on an i7 Win7 PC).
I've yet to try HD or really sophisticated editing, but titling, adding and editing sound, chapters and merging or overlapping video files of any kind for a transition effect is a delight!

Serif MoviePlus X6 video-editing program builds on an already excellent set of features by adding a mode called Quickmovie Studio. This includes 20 themes suitable for different occasions with title sequences, end credits, effects and transitions. Converting different video formats, with a new batch feature so you can convert several files at once.

Improved fine control over white balance, vibrancy, exposure and shadows to both still images and video. Movieplus continues to offer a smooth workflow for producing home videos whether using the storyboard or more detailed timeline views. Like X5 it works with a lower resolution copy of HD video when doing the edits and only produces the real thing at the end – this enables it to run on less powerful home PCs. With on screen help there's plenty of help for newcomers and even old hands familiar with the interface will discover some new tricks.

This program has so much to offer it is hard to mention everything it does. i have used many editing programs but MoviePlus X6 is the best I have used. i love the ease of use with this program and all of the quality tools that are included. my biggest plu for thid program is that i ws able to do thing i could not even try in other programs i have tried. Now I am spoiled and done away with all my other editing software. MoviePlus X6 is the programn to own and I would tell anyone to buy this great software.

I found the latest version of this program simple to install & was using it within minutes. I've used earlier versions before but found the learning of the new additions was simple especially as a video was available to look at.
The simplicity of the drag & drop from the media pane was crisp plus having different types of timelines will suit users who are used to different types of story collation.
My project is still 'Work in Progress' but I know I have a wide selection of final output available to me. The range allows me to find something that suits the latest social media.
