Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to try the new X6, but loved the X5. I will be working with the X6 on my latest project, a wedding I just photographed.

About 1 1/2 years ago I was told that our webmaster and graphics personnel were leaving and I would now be responsible for maintaining about a dozen websites. I was primarily a back-end network and server guy. Other than some basic website design training and personal graphics and photography stuff I learned on my own as a hobby, I was at a loss and had to learn a lot and quickly. I was provided the Adobe CS4 suite and told to go for it. It seems the harder I tried to learn what I needed to know the more confusing it became. I struggled just to do simple website maintenance and was scraping by. To make a long story short, I was searching for a simple yet powerful alternative to the Adobe suite of products because when I started looking at the newer versions of the Adobe suite I found them to be a bit overwhelming and costly. My immediate need was photo editing. I needed to do a lot of photo editing/manipulation and get them posted to the websites in a timely manner. Early last December I came across the Serif PhotoPlus X6 during a Google search. I really never even heard of Serif prior to that Google search. I downloaded the PhotoPlus X6 trial and was able to start using it right away, even with my limited knowledge and experience. I was very impressed with how friendly the user interface was and as I dove deeper into the product's capabilities I was able to customize the interface to accommodate my needs at the time. I was so impressed with with PhotoPlus X6, I purchased it followed by Webplus X6, PagePlus X6 & DrawPlus X5. Over the next couple of months I became more proficient with the Serif products and much more productive in my work environment. So much so that I consistently received kudos for my work from my co-workers and my boss. Since I was able to design and built a couple of fairly complex websites in a very short time including some pretty cool photo editing and graphics. My boss is so impressed that our contract with the outside web developer is being cut to an "as needed" basis.
PhotoPlus X6 with its user friendly interface, along with the tutorials, help files and forum introduced me to the Serif products and has allowed me to come a long way in just a few months. I struggled with Adobe because for someone with just the basics the product interfaces are so overwhelming as were their tutorials, help files and forums.
After starting off with PhotoPlus X6, I was easily able to start learning and using Webplus X6, PagePlus X6 & DrawPlus X5 as the interfaces are pretty consistent across the products. As I was able to take on more complex issues and projects, the Serif products gave me the flexibility to dive deeper into the functionality of the products, make the appropriate adjustments and to meet the challenges head on. Although the Serif products look a lot simpler, especially compared to the Adobe products, once you start learning about the Serif products you discover they are very powerful and professional level products.
I would like to see Serif develop even tighter integration between their products and offer them as a suite as opposed to individual products. I hope to see this more in future releases. Just keep the user friendly interfaces simple with the ability to customize and modify the interfaces as the knowledge level and ability of the user grows.
I would not hesitate to recommend PhotoPlus X6 to the novice or more advance user. It is easy to use yet very powerful in its functionality. As the user gains more knowledge they will discover PhotoPlus X6 seems to grow with them to accommodate where they are in the learning prcocess. I would say the same about Webplus X6, PagePlus X6 and DrawPlus X5, highly recommended.

The Photofix feature and Cutout Studio are particularly useful for beginners and advanced users alike and are easy to master. A good choice for anyone seeking to bring out the best in their photos.

Photoplus x6 is an incremental improvement over X5. The interface is still as easy to use as before & quite a few features have been improved markedly.
I use the blemish remover tool on some of my old images (dirty lenses!) and the latest version is actually pretty good - not quite as effective as the one in Lightroom 4 but definitely very usable
One other feature to note is the Cutout Studio - intuitive, fast and accurate.
I use the 64bit version on Window 7 and an initial problem with a dll error has been fixed with a patch very quickly (available from the troubleshooting area of the Serif website)
Overall a very nice product - if you're in the market for a photo editor and not fixated on Adobe products you could do a lot worse than to try PhotoPlus X6.

Photoplus is a program that one can improve their photos in a very professional way. One can edit their photos in a way that cannot be done with any other program from other manufacturers. When one talks about Rolls Royce cars they can put Serif's Photoplus in the same catagory.
