I would love to give you a glowing review - I have high hopes. But I wanted to test the product first to make sure it would be easy to create a very specific type of logo and text illustrations I'm looking for. So I downloaded the free version and my Kaspersky is saying their's a trojan virus with it.

Since I am the second person (and maybe more) that has noted this you should look into it.

I downloaded the DrawPlus starter edition and used it. It's would have been a great tool except for the TROJAN VIRUS it gave me. My new computer is running slower than ever now. I was browsing the internet today and my computer was so slow I went to investigate why. Clicked on the download registry from Serif to scan for viruses and my Kaspersky found 3 corrupt files that were encrypted as trojan software. I am going to rate this product at the highest level only because I want my review to show up. I bet the lower it is rated the more they trash your rating. I hope newcomers will read the reviews first rather than trusting a free software.

I use DrawPlus for creating professional book illustrations and graphic novels, particularly inking my scanned pencil sketches in lossless vector format. It allows me to resize and reposition the illustration's elements on the page without distorting its line-out (contrary to what would happen if I were to use standard pixel drawing format). DP is extremely flexible, fast, and most of all GRATIS. Since I don't need to color my b/w ink drawings, I'm more than satisfied with what the freeware offers: page layout design, customizable brushes, pen nibs, lettering for the comics, pressure-sensitivity for my Wacom tablet, and much, much more. The laser printouts look so smooth and natural that people often ask me, "Is this traditional or digital ink?" Thank you, Serif!

Best product ever, I am loving it and it makes my job easy and fun

DrawPlus Starter Edition is surprisingly good for the price. When compared to Corel Draw X5, I found my pen tablet (Wacom Intuos 3) working better with DrawPlus, although the limitation on the features was frustrating. However, you got what you paid for. The toughest competitor is perhaps Inkscape, which is at least in Windows 64-bit environment rather unstable.
What I do not really like here is that although this download attempts to work as a demo for the to-be-paid software, the limited functions do not give a good idea on how the newer version works and how its features are (yeah, there are the videos, but that is not really helpful at all). Also, the palette tool was rather horrible: I prefer the Corel's way here.
Good value for the money, although not the best around.

DrawPlus was easy to get started with and I could produce artwork that could be exported for use in inkscape, with ease. I used a graphic tablet with the software which felt natural with the choice of brushes. I am going to get the full version!

Being a beginner in CAD and digital graphics; I didn't want to spend huge money on a product I may not use regularly. I found www.serif.com and haven't looked back since. It is amazing what you get for free, I mean you don't get much for free nowadays! Most of the features in this product are in other high-end and expensive software which is a major bonus. I haven't been using this long enough to unlock its full potential but I am pretty amazed so far to say the least. I look forward to using this product and maybe upgrading in the near future. I am pleased to Review DrawPlus Starter Edition.
First I must say that my experience with Serif has been exceptional, I find they are so helpful, with their tutorials, etc.And to actually give the program free for trial is amazing.
I have tried other programs, but Serif leaves the others in their weak,
do yourself a favor and try all their programs, I am sure you won't be disappointed, And I would not be surprised to see you go on and purchase the full blown program, yes they are that good.
They have the help for novices and professionals alike. Not like some professional programs, that leave you almost on your own.

I love this program!!! I have always loved to draw as a hobby and now that I have finished my Master's I am finally able to get back into sketching. This program is easy to use, especially if you are computer illiterate. I love to create simple designs that I can print off to let my kids color in. Because of this program, my wife thinks I should publish my own childrens coloring book. I have tried other drawing programs, but this one is, by far the easiest one to use if you don't have a background or education in art.

Ok this program actually surpised me, for those who are reading, and have downloaded other wonderful program offering a pelthora of goodies. Only to be let down and have to go and uninstall it 5 mins later. Serif delivered on all of its promises, the DrawPlus is brilliant as a designer and drawing program. While it is no Corel Draw, DrawPlus is no where as pricey and will do want you need it too regardless. Nice work Serif and thanks for the opportunity to tell others what I think... I never get that chance often enough...

What a breath of fresh air. I have been trying other suites of drawing software that would allow me to create banners, freehand drawings, and changing the dimensions of a picture without drowning out the beauty. This is the first Free version that I have found that works right out of the gate and just keeps working.

I do get a few screens that tell me this or that is not available in this version, which is ok by me. If it can do all I want now using my basic knowledge, just think what I can do when I get the full version next month. I am really looking forward to that.

Don't forget the training. They have done a great job providing a rounded education on the product online, which is where most of us are these days.

Over all, this is a 6 out of 5 stars. I have not had this caliber of software for free ever.

It took me a short while to get used to the program. Once I did, it performed excellent. I'm sure the software can do things well above my knowledge, but I was extremely pleased with it. If I had more opportunity to create some graphic art, I was definitely purchase the full version of this software. Thank you Serif for creating software that is such a pleasure to use, works so well and then to offer a free version of it!

Draw Plus Starter Edition is quite easy to use.
The software isn't the easiest to use but if you spent a bit of time exploring the software I'm sure it would become easier.
