Inserting a Twitter widget

Twitter widgets can be added to your page to stream various types of live feeds to display on your page or a Tweet (or Follow) button that interfaces directly with Twitter.

Twitter widget types

There are several different types of widgets that can be added to a page to allow visitors to engage with site content in different ways.

Widget type Features
Favorites Feed Displays individual tweets you've starred as a Favorite.
List Feed Displays tweets by users added to a custom Twitter list. By adding users to a list, all their individual tweets will show when the list is viewed.
Profile Feed Displays tweets on a specific user's profile.
Search Feed Displays all tweets based on a chosen search query.
Tweet Button Allows visitors to share your website by tweeting your site content to their Twitter profile.
Follow Button Allows visitors to follow your account on Twitter.

Inserting a Twitter widget

The widget is placed directly onto the page, the same as any other object. There are different ways to insert different widget types.

To insert a Favorites, List, Profile, or Search Feed:

  1. From the Quick Build tab (Social Media category), click  Twitter Widget then click on the page to place.
    - or-
    From the Insert menu, select Social Media>Twitter Widget...

  2. In the dialog, from the Type drop-down list, select Favorites Feed, List Feed, Profile Feed, or Search Feed.

  3. In the Preview pane, check or uncheck Update to preview what your widget will look like on the page as you make changes.

  4. Customize the behavior of your feed:

  1. (Optional) Customize the appearance of your feed in the Appearance section.

  1. Click OK.

To insert a Tweet Button:

  1. From the Quick Build tab (Social Media category), click Twitter Widget then click on the page to place.
    - or-
    From the Insert menu, select Social Media>Twitter Widget...

  2. In the dialog, from the Type drop-down list, select Tweet Button.

  3. In the Preview pane, check or uncheck Update to preview what your widget will look like on the page as you make changes.

  4. Customize the behavior of your button:

  1. (Optional) Customize the appearance of your widget using additional options (these differ according to Type).

  1. Click OK.

To insert a Follow Button:

  1. From the Quick Build tab (Social Media category), click Twitter Widget then click on the page to place.
    - or-
    From the Insert menu, select Social Media>Twitter Widget...

  2. In the dialog, from the Type drop-down list, select Follow Button.

  3. In the Preview pane, check or uncheck Update to preview what your widget will look like on the page as you make changes.

  4. In User to Follow, enter a Twitter username. Visitors will follow this account on Twitter when they click your button.

  1. (Optional) Customize the appearance of your widget using additional options (these differ according to Type).

  1. Click OK.

Editing a Twitter widget

Once added to the page, the Twitter widget can be edited at any time.

To edit a Twitter widget:

  1. Select the widget already present on your page.

  2. Double-click the widget.
    - or -
    Click the Edit Twitter widget button from the context toolbar.
    - or -
    Right-click the widget and select Edit Twitter <widget type>...

    The Edit dialog is displayed. The options available are the same as those available when the widget was created.

  3. Make your changes and click OK.

Once a widget is placed on the page you can resize it by click-and-dragging the edges or corners (except Tweet Button or Follow Button). Use the Shift key while dragging to maintain the aspect ratio.
