The OCR National Certificate in ICT is an exciting alternative to the GNVQ course. With its increased emphasis on creativity and graphic communication Serif software becomes an ideal tool to deliver the key creative units.

Serif products will fulfil the key creative elements of the OCR Nationals. The Serif Design Suite offers bitmap and vector tools, digital video editing, dtp and web publishing all supported by substantial resource materials and schemes of work focussed on course assessment objectives. Serif’s Teacher Resources for the OCR Nationals are endorsed by OCR for use with the OCR Nationals Level 2 Unit 2 (Web Creation), Unit 3 ( Digital Imaging ), Unit 20 (Animation), Unit 21 (Computer Graphics) and Unit 23 (Digital Video) specifications. Other Units are currently going through the OCR endorsement process. Endorsement of resources requires a rigorous assessment and quality assurance process to ensure the materials support the specification and the sample exercises and exemplar activities provide the appropriate direction and formative assessment to assist course delivery.

Assignment


 The scenario for the model assignment is used to set a series of contextualised tasks that test each assessment objective by means of linked mini briefs.

Mini brief


 Each section of the scheme of work concludes with a small task related to the assignment scenario, which embeds and reinforces new skills in context. The briefs build sequentially into the complete guided model assignment.

 Students are encouraged to seek regular feedback about their work and to make modifications in response as well as to evaluate their own work

The Serif Teacher Resource for Digital Imaging (Unit 3) is completed, freely available and ready to download. Serif Teacher Resource Packs for Web Design (Unit 2), Animation (Unit 20), Computer Graphics (Unit 21) and Digital Video (Unit 23) are now available, are endorsed by OCR for the OCR Nationals in ICT Level 2 specification, and will be provided free with the purchase of Serif Licence Packs. Further creative units are in production and will be available shortly.
